Following previous List Pick ‘Too Soon’, Nottingham’s George Gretton is back at the release wheel with his newest single ‘Grey / Blue’, which was inspired by the phrase “whether skies are grey or blue.” For Gretton, this was a resonating message during a time of stunted personal growth and a continuous fascination with contrasts. The latter here is reflected in the eerie music video which explores places in London that are unbearably busy during the day, but take on an otherworldly emptiness in the night hours. Working alongside director Imogen Harrison and director of photography Simon Plunket, Gretton brings the track that he entirely self-wrote and produced to life. What you’ll hear is a piece of floating intricacy that bursts with hopefulness, coming back to the present thought “now I know, / I’m not the only”. - Hannah Thacker
